FINAL COLLECTION.

I feel I have ensured my final collection of samples are finished to a high quality finish and work well together as a collection. This is very important when working for high -end market which is my audience. I have kept in mind my market whilst making the samples and aimed to create a beautiful, free, innovative and modern collection of inspirational fabrics for high-end women's wear fashion. I would like to carry this concept through to unit x, pushing myself on scale and working on the body as well as capturing my work through photography.

Context. Linking knits to the body.

The most successful of my fashion illustrations are where I have used photos of my samples draping in their natural state. This works better than the mannequin work as it reflects my theme and feel much more strongly and I feel shows a more modern and innovative collection.

I feel that using this technique shows that my knits are inspirational fabrics for high end women's fashion and so, not being as commercial, is more about unusual and exciting shapes, with a suggestion of how these shapes could work on the body.

Relating final knits to the body

I have carried on refining my knits as well as my photography as this is an important way of capturing how I would like my knits to be seen and gives more of an idea of how I would like it to work on the body.

I have also been researching designers as an ongoing process throughout this project and this has really helped me in refining the shapes of my knits and pushed me to create new and modern designs.

I now need to relate my knits more to the body, but keeping the shapes that I have captured.
Previous work on the mannequin hasn't been as successful in keeping the natural flow and shape of my knits, however it has been helpful in giving me more of an idea of proportion on the body. I have decided that using my photography of the knits draping naturally could portray the feel of my collection better than working on a mannequin and this is the next step I am going to take.

Continued final samples.

To create more variation within my collection of knitted sample I have included domestic knitting machine samples (left) and hand knit (right). These create a more interesting and innovative collection and makes it more suited for fashion as within a collection there will be different weighted garments with a slightly different feel to make it more exciting and to appeal to a wider market.

Looking back at my samples I have seen that many include a lot of blue, therefore I have introduced more turquoise and pinks into the collection.

refining samples

Photography and dyeing of knits and chiffon is working really well, blending the linked areas. Shapes that the knits are making are really interesting. I would like to push this further now and look at how I can create some more variation within my collection of final samples.
